Description

Trypsin is a single-chain protein composed of 223 amino acids and belongs to the Serine protease S1 family. It is expressed in E. coli and generated from trypsinogen by the removal of an N-terminal hexapeptide. The native active form is known as β-trypsin, while limited hydrolysis produces α-trypsin. Functionally, trypsin specifically cleaves peptide bonds at the C-terminal side of lysine and arginine residues, exhibiting optimal enzymatic activity within the pH range of 7–9

Application

The application of trypsin is well suited to cell and tissue culture such as in the production of Insulin and its analogues, vaccines, cosmetic and food industry.
